Welcome

Welcome to the third or fourth reincarnation of this blog! I’ve gone from writing about my general experiences in grad school, to travel blogging, to food blogging, now to professional/career blogging. I love drawing the lines between what I do and what I’m learning from it every day – and  I think this is a great way to do it.

Given the recent Digital Project Management Summit and all of the coverage that was generated from it (including a number of great DPM Summit Roundups, which I covered as well), I find it an inspiring time to start documenting my thoughts as a project manager, what I’ve learned along the way, and what I’m still learning.

This summer I made a big change and quit my job at an agency to work for a small, in-house marketing team at an international paper company. Unsurprisingly, it’s been quite the change in almost all ways, and I’ve found myself recording all of the differences I’m noticing between this job and my last. I wanted somewhere more formal to jot all of this down, and this is the perfect opportunity.

Some topics I’m hoping to cover over the next few months include what it’s like going from agency to in-house work, the process of creating a new workflow in a very different environment, dealing with more traditional forms of marketing as a project manager, learning about social media management, and the search for the perfect project management tool.

Please feel free to chime in on my opinions in the comments, and let me know if you’re in a similar position. Check back often for more!
